Last week I left grey cold London for beautiful blue-skied Barcelona. The trip was so last minute, I found out that two of my friends from the final year of uni was over from Asia and making a pit stop in Barcelona. I booked the EasyJet flights and left bright and early Monday morning flew out. I stepped off that plane as light as air, the weather was just so beautiful, a mild 18 degrees. The journey into the city is so easy, just one hop on a bus, I made my way down La Rambla and found my friends in an amazing little art shop both with an arm full of sketchbooks and paints. I joined them and bought a little red journal, that I spent the two days filling with notes, sketches and little photos from my Instax mini.
We went on to get some beautiful seafood tapas and sangria and catch up on everything we have been up to since leaving uni. Darlene has got a studio and Singapore and as amazing creative plans for the next two years, Evonne now is working on her illustration and has plans to be a freelance illustrator. Is there anything better than catching up with friends over beautiful food? We then headed for something sweeter and had the most amazing cakes and doughnuts in this beautiful little chocolate shop.
After wandering around the beautiful streets we popped into the girls Airbnb to drop off the bags and grab something to drink. They were staying in the cutest little Spanish flat with the most perfect tiny little balcony. It had the most perfect little kitchen diner and two perfectly sized rooms. I got major home envy and cannot wait to get my own little place.
I wore a super easy casual outfit, with this fun T-shirt from ASOS, Jeans from River Island, South Beach sunnies and ASOS bag and shoes. We headed down to the beach to catch the sunset, and it was just too perfect for words, I felt just so calm and at peace in the warm evening sun.
This was the first trip I took my Instax mini and I am so happy I did, I love photography I love editing the photos afterwards to show off the locations and views in the best light, but there is something so freeing taking pictures in the moment with no control in how they will turn out. My journal is full of beautiful little snapshots of the trip in filtered and perfect. On the second day, we headed out to the Museum of Modern Art. I have never felt so calm and inspired. The exhibition of modern portraiture was just stunning, we stood soaking it all in, sketching and just enjoy the peaceful place. It was like an oasis of art, calm and inspiration. It is a MUST for any artists or designers to visit if you go to Barcelona.
A lot of the outfit was from the ASOS sale but here are some of my new season favourites to recreate the look:
