I’m in China on a trip working with my old university, sharing my experience as a fashion student. It has been incredible, and exhausting. It’s been fantastic to see Asia for the first time and been exciting seeing some beautiful cities and places. I have been traveling with a group of women who work for the college here in Asia and it has been great to see a team of amazing women doing working on a project. I’m also traveling with Galiena, another student from my uni, we were on different course and only saw each other in passing around uni, but we have had so much fun exploring, beating jet lag, getting to know each other, talking feminism, politics, design, and fashion (all the important stuff!).
Today we are just over the halfway point of the trip and for me, the tiredness had peaked, I was feeling stress about the work I can’t do because I’m away. I felt like getting into bed crawling under the covers and staying there for a few days. Instead, I put the movie channel on the TV, had an outfit change (fixed my hair and makeup too), and goofed around the hotel room. Trying to Superman fly face first over the perfect white sheets, and posing in the bathroom like Beyonce really does pick up your mood.
I see so many travel and fashion bloggers always looking fabulous in stunning places, and it can really feel like reality doesn’t live up to that, even when you are traveling and seeing amazing places, the tiredness and jet lag can really get too much. When your in stunning places you want to get out and explore, but sometimes you have cut yourself some slack and let yourself rest and feel down for a day, it’s okay to feel knackered, cranky or homesick (I’m pretty sure everyone does) just let yourself have some time doing nothing and enjoy goofing around a little. (I promise I’ll be sharing some pictures outside of the hotel from out and about in China, but check out my Instagram for lots more!)
