Well this is exciting for me, I’ve had my blog for a few years now, but as I come to the end of my fashion degree, with all new unknown adventures on the horizon it seemed like the perfect time for a new look and a new start on the blog. Over Easter, I found some time in between sewing sessions for my final collection to go and stay with my beautiful and incredibly talented friend Maria. I met Maria when interning two years ago, not only has she become one of my closest friends, but she shares so many of my loves for fashion, travel, design, photography, art, and illustration. She is always my second opinion when I need a creative eye on projects, and she always ends up the photographer to our travels and days out. Not only does she have a beautiful eye for layouts and design, but she is the kind of girlfriend every woman needs in her life, she always builds me up, and encourages me to be bolder and more ambitious.I spend a few days at her flat in London (which constantly make me jealous) and we had plans to shoot a whole lot of content and film together so I could start a YouTube channel. When I arrived we both however developed the worst colds and struggled through our days with a lot more lay-ins and naps than initially planned. In spite of this, a combination of Maria photographic talent, and a hell of a lot of makeup to hide the sickness we still had loads of fun shooting. It seemed only fitting to share this ‘good morning’ post with you, as the first post on my brand spanking new site.Maria made us green smoothies, and avocado on toast, a true breakfast of bloggers, and from my Instagram feed, apparently the only thing anyone eats! For me, this was the dream, as I spend 99% of my super skint student life eating ASDA value breakfast cereal, or whatever breaded/pastry good is reduced at the end of the day when I’m walking home for the studio (9 pm Sainsbury’s reduced section I’m there!). Maria was trying to cure our colds in one super green breakfast, I’m not sure if it worked but it was really tasty. We shot these photos in her kitchen before a day of shooting, I love big shirt look, for PJs and lounge wear, I don’t think I know anything else that is as comfy but also super cute and sexy for the morning! It’s the perfect thing to wear on lazy mornings and chill, and even better for sending cute good morning snap chats that look cute, but also say without saying ‘yeah, I woke up like this’. It also helps if you get up to put a lil makeup on, then get your selfie (Oh come on we all do it sometimes!). Anyway, this shirt is a dreamy one from H&M, kinda cute with a military feel to it, you could always throw on one from a beautiful man-friend of yours, but if like me you have no BF, there are so many cute ones on the high street at the moment. If you are on a tiny budget but also want to look insta ready in a shirt, I recon you could find some really cute men’s shirts in charity shops for a couple of quid that would look just as sexy!
Anyway back to why the re launch and why the blog. It really comes down to a few things, firstly I love fashion, anything beautiful and fun, and for a long time have really just wanted to share this. I love following bloggers and models; I could scroll and double tap my way down Instagram for days at a time, and the same with Pinterest. What nice about blogging and social media is that anyone can post and share, now its not just what the fashion establishment says is the right body for fashion is, anyone can share. However I still find that most of the accounts I follow and love the style of, are of models or ex models or bloggers who could all fit in a sample size, now they are gorgeous and they inspire me, but sometime when I get a wave of self doubt, or maybe its just my time of the month, little voices creep in, like if only I was taller, if only I was skinny, maybe I’d look better in clothes? Now don’t get me wrong I and 5.6 (that’s a complete guess, I’m an not tall not short kind girl) and a size 12, and I am probably way more confident and anyone should be, but it still can sometimes feel like clothes look better if I were a six foot size 6 kinda girl. I know this isn’t true, and as a designer, and lover of beautiful things, I know this when it comes to style and looking amazing, looks and size have very little to do with it, style and looking amazing comes from inside a person, its there personality and flare. I love when I find accounts which show a little more diversity, its not about where someone is plus size, its not about there size at all, but when you find someone absolutely killing it and looking like a queen regardless of the size in the back of their jeans.
Basically I know I find it encouraging when I see more diversity in street style and fashion inspiration, when I see everything from models born with a thigh gap, to fitness queens, to girls who like me must rip through the crotch of a pair or jeans as fast as I do because the cute curvy ass and thighs have rubbed together every day for as long as they can remember. I love fashion and I love bloggers and blogging because, putting out one image of what it is to be fashionable, something that so often the fashion establishment does, can be so excluding and discouraging to so many girls and women, but through bloggers blogging, anyone can put themselves out there loving fashion and looking like street style queens.
So on here I’ll be sharing a lot of my own outfits and fashion, as I developed and explore my style, but I’ll also be sharing a lot of my work and projects as university finishes, and the real work begins. I can’t wait to share my final collection with you all, its what I’m working non-stop on at the moment, I can’t wait to share the shows, the shoots, and all the fashion with you. I’ll also be sharing more post uni projects, there’s a lot of amazing stuff in the pipelines and I can’t wait to get working on it all. You can follow along on Blogloving, or Instagram, and I’ll promise to work on making lots of pretty lots of inspiring content for you!
Love Georgina xoxo
